Frequently Asked Questions
What is the concentration of your perfumes?
Ashenfume perfumes are generally created at extrait de parfum concentration, typically around 20–30%. We favor rich, long-lasting compositions with depth, presence, and strong material character.
How long do your perfumes last on skin?
Longevity varies depending on skin chemistry, weather, application, and the materials used in each fragrance. Some perfumes may last a few hours, while others can remain noticeable throughout the day.
For longer wear, apply a thin layer of unscented lotion before spraying to help slow absorption into the skin. We do not recommend spraying on light-colored clothing, as natural materials, resins, and darker aromatic ingredients may stain.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the handcrafted nature of our perfumes, all sales are final.
If there is an issue with your order, please contact us at support@ashenfume.com so we can review the situation and assist where possible.
Can I cancel or modify my order after purchase?
Yes, as long as the order has not shipped yet. If you need to cancel or modify an order, please contact us as soon as possible at support@ashenfume.com.
Once an order has shipped, we are unable to make changes.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, Ashenfume ships internationally where possible through the United States postal system, FedEx, UPS, or other available carriers.
International availability may vary depending on destination country, carrier restrictions, and perfume shipping regulations.
How long will shipping take?
In-stock orders typically ship within a few business days. Preorders and small-batch releases may require additional production or preparation time before shipment.
Domestic delivery usually takes 3–10 business days after shipment. International delivery usually takes 7–30 business days depending on destination country, customs processing, and carrier delays.
If your order has not shipped yet and you would like a status update, you are always welcome to contact us.
Do you offer samples or discovery sets?
Samples are available for individual perfumes when listed on the product page.
Discovery sets are something we would like to offer in the future, but the groundwork has not been fully laid out yet.
Are your perfumes natural or synthetic?
Ashenfume perfumes are crafted primarily with natural materials, including botanicals, resins, florals, woods, musks, oud, tinctures, and other aromatic ingredients.
In some compositions, we may use very small amounts of synthetic materials to enhance lift, structure, diffusion, stability, or realism. These are used intentionally and sparingly.
If you have allergy concerns or sensitivities, please contact us before ordering.
Where are your perfumes made?
Each perfume is handmade in small batches in our alchemical hall.
Do you test on animals?
Never. Ashenfume does not test on animals.
How should I store my perfume?
Store your perfume away from direct sunlight, heat, and major temperature swings. Light and heat are two of the biggest factors in the degradation of aromatic materials.
Some perfumes may contain antioxidants such as vitamin E or rosemary extract to help slow oxidation, but natural volatile notes such as citrus, pine, and certain top notes may still soften over time.
Refrigeration is not required, but keeping your perfume in a cool, dark place can help preserve it longer.
Why does my perfume smell different over time?
Perfume can continue to mature after bottling. Over time, volatile top notes may soften, while heart notes, base notes, resins, woods, musks, and deeper materials may become more noticeable.
This is especially true with natural materials, tinctures, resins, oud, and handcrafted compositions. Slight changes over time are part of the living nature of the perfume.
